There is very little information on the Internet about how the products are quiet. And, of course, that individual subjective judgments.
On the basis of this unit is recommended by Consumer Reports went ahead and bought from Amazon for about $ 165, Amazon and used the first one-day shipping. This was a great attention for the expedition! The unit ships except for a box and the box was pretty banged up. But unity does not seem damaged.
The installation was easy and I got it done without any tools. It is not necessary to tighten the unit to the window. The side panels also attach without any tools, which was smart.
You can use the device with good tactile buttons, the camera and remote control. The temperature can be adjusted in steps of 1 degree, and has 3 speed fan. But I needed a small window unit, my local stores did not make a big brand any, and there was nothing other Amazon currently ship either. So I read some good reviews and bought it anyway.
The machine is "OK". Cools my bedroom is quite small, and has fueled it is not. Specifically, it is about 430 watts when the compressor on, and 50 watts of fan-only (I measured). My 10000BTU AC uses almost 3 times the only two times the cooling power, so this is definitely an effective machine, which will be easier on the energy bill can right now.
I find it quite difficult. I realize that the subjective statement, but I am sure the brands Panasonic and LG in my old apartment was quieter. I also wish it had a low fan setting, it may be more compatible with the bedroom. The Med and Hi settings surely unbearable at night! One thing I found was the audible noise when I drop the matter before the intake grille to block direct noise (not really on the grid, leaving a few inches so you can suck air).
The unit has a switch inside / outside, and the "8-WAY grids" that is completely and totally useless - in a much less expensive for the real-air directors. The remote control is clumsy, but the same intuitive 4-way change (left / right = fan, high / low = temperature) as a real unity, so that you can use it in the dark. I feel great advantage, especially for the operation of the bedroom.
Update: after a few months use, my unit broke. Poor me, thank you, because now I can report to you as does the warranty:)
You find a local service center and to call them. Then you need to be home for 1 / 2 days, and repairers to find and examine the machine. Mine was leaking air that they felt "not repairable". Of course, this company would not repair the third party after the rear unit.
